During setup SORMAS will create a default administrator user that you need to use for your first login. The user credentials are:

Username: admin

Password: sadmin

Every time you use the default login credentials the system will warn you and ask if you want to change the default password. We heavily recommend changing it immediately on your first login!

If you do, a new password will be automatically generated and displayed to you ONCE. After that you will only be able to reset the password, by using another administrator account, but never display it for security reasons.

Save it in a safe place. We recommend a “password safe” for it, there are some great open-source solutions out there.

If you lose the password, you will be locked out of the system if you are the only administrator, which may result in having to install old backups or even resetting the whole system.

Once you have reset the password you can start creating your own custom users and user roles. But more on that later, let’s look at the default user roles SORMAS provides next.
